Sebastian Prodl signed a new contract extension at Watford on Wednesday afternoon and he’s now been in front of club media talking about his time at Vicarage Road so far.

The Austrian international joined Watford back in 2015 from Werder Bremen and to date, the 30 year old has made 61 appearances for the club, scoring three times. He picked up the Player of the Season award for the campaign of 2016/17 and this week he effectively committed to another four years at the club.

Having signed a five year deal in 2015, his new deal adds an extra 12 months overall if you want to be specific, and it’ll no doubt be a good boost to the player given he’s currently sidelined with a hamstring problem.

Speaking to the Official Site, he explained.

‘It’s good timing for me. I’m established as a Premier League player, the club is established as a Premier League club and I think we can move forward from here. I’ve felt proud so far to play for the club, and to see how much we have improved. I think there’s still a big chance for us to improve, to get even better.’

With him currently sidelined, Prodl went on to say that he feels good in his recovery so far and when he’s back fit and in contention, at the age of 30 he now feels he’ll be going into the peak of his career.

‘I still feel pretty good,” he smiled. I’m not a player from yesterday, I’m still a player for today. For me, it’s a big sign from the club that they trust me for another four years. From myself, I can just promise I will give everything to help improve the club for the next few years.’
