Get the lowdown ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Millwall at the Den
Vital Millwall ed. Millwall Site Staff gives us the inside track on goings-on in the Lions Den…
The half-way point of the season has passed now, how has the season compared to your hopes & fears back in August?
We’d have hoped for far fewer down moments as the season has drawn on for a start.
We’ve been way too inconsistent and wasted quite a few points as the league table suggests at the moment. So whilst the first half of the season has been disappointing, there are plenty of things that can worked on for the second half of the season and another pleasing league finishing position is within our grasp.
That said there is always the so called ‘second-season syndrome’ and we have probably suffered from that somewhat, maybe slightly higher expectations at the start of the season than we should’ve done. But there’s plenty of games left. Staying in the league and solidifying our position was the main aim of the game and as long as we pull our fingers out and go on a decent run of games that will be the result we get.
Will there be any transfer business at the Den between now and the 31st?
There are a few links doing the rounds, and we’ve just landed youngster Shane Lowry from Aston Villa, but it’s possible he’ll be the last permanent addition before the close of the window. I think at the moment it’s more likely we may get one or two further players on loan, but you can never really predict who might become available over the next few days.
Who is the key man for Millwall on Tuesday and why?
Darius Henderson without a doubt given his recent scoring form. If you keep him quiet we might struggle, but we’ve also got a youngster on loan from Tottenham called Harry Kane who seems to be striking up a good partnership with him, so he’d be another to look out for.
Where will you finish this season?
At the moment, I would be happy with a mid-table finish. As long as we stay up, we can build on that.
I don’t think a 2-1 victory to us is out of the question as you seem to be as inconsistent as we are. But three points for us would make the table look far more promising as we head into the second month of the New Year.
Cheers for that Millwall Site Staff, hopefully big Nyron Nosworthy will keep our former striker Darius Henderson quiet!
