West Brom`s Jonas Olsson has admitted he found it hard to celebrate Chris Brunt`s injury time equaliser at Watford – scored in the time added on for medics having to treat Tom Cleverley with an oxygen mask and a leg splint following a clash with the Baggy defender.

The Swede has revealed “It does get to you when something like that happens? I feel brokenhearted for the lad and insisted “It`s never nice to be involved in an injury like that“.

Cleverley, on loan from Manchester United, lay prone on the playing surface after a 67th minute ‘tangle` with Olsson, and it`s still yet to be revealed just to the extent of his injury to his knee, ankle, leg [delete as appropriate] as the tabloids speculate on the damage!

Olsson, to whom little responsibility (if any) for Cleverley`s expected season-ending injury has be attached, told the WBA ‘fficial site Everyone who saw the tackle will know it wasn`t intentional. He got the ball away from me, I slid to get the ball, he ran in and we got tangled up.”

And, after taking time out from slamming the state of the Watford pitch, West Brom boss Roberto DiMatteo was quick to deflect any blame from his vice captain, stating “I`m not sure exactly how the challenge happened but it was on the ball. I don`t think there was anything wrong with my player.

Di Matteo added “It was pretty unfortunate“?

Hmmm, just tell that to Watford centre back Martin Taylor who has had to live with the whole media hoo-har for his so-called ‘horror tackle` on Eduardo a few seasons back when playing for Birmingham!
