Defender Martin Taylor has extended his stay at Vicarage Road for a further year.

The 32 year-old Ashington-born centre-back was one of just two senior pro’s offered new contracts this summer, the other being Stephen McGinn.

Despite missing much of the season through shoulder and toe injuries, Taylor once more proved an invaluable asset at the back and partnered Nyron Nosworthy with great effect toward the end of the season.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City defender has made 83 league starts for the Hornets, with a further four apppearances coming from the bench. His time at the Vic’ has yielded nine league goals.

Taylor will now remain at Vicarage Road until June 30 2013.
