Watford have this afternoon been officially taken over by the Pozzo family, subject to Football League approval.

The ownership of the football club will be transferred from present owner Laurence Bassini to the Pozzo family, assuming there are no hiccups with the Football League.

A full statement can be read on the official site

The news brings to an end the tenure of Stanmore businessman Laurence Bassini who bought the club 15 months ago.

Whilst Bassini’s time in charge of the club has not always been smooth, good work has been done both on and off the field – the appointment of Sean Dyche, bolstering of the squad and the club’s 11th-placed finish, the re-laying of the pitch, improvements around the ground and the re-opening of the Red and Yellow Lion are among the highlights.

As soon as there is any further communication from Watford, we will bring it to you.

In the mean time, many thanks to Laurence for his efforts during his time in WD18 and welcome to the Pozzo family.
