Watford appear to have solved their left back problems this evening by signing Carl Dickinson from Stoke City for an undisclosed fee.

The 24 year old made 60 appearances for the Potters since joining them in 2002 and made 30 appearances in their promotion winning side of 2007/08.

Since gaining promotion Dickinson has found first team football hard to come by and spent the last two seasons out on loan firstly at Barnsley where he made 29 appearances and last season at Portsmouth where he started 43 times.

The committed defender has penned a three year contract and will wear the number 3 shirt for the Hornets this season.

He joins a host of players already recruited this summer and I and other Watford fans will hope he turns out to be the solution to our left back problems.
