One of the most brief Watford ‘careers’ came to an end today as Sunderland striker Ryan Noble returned to his parent club following a less than successful loan spell at Vicarage Road.

Signed back on the ’emergency loan’ deadline day for 96 days, Noble failed to get off the bench once in four attempts, most recently in the crushing defeat at Leicester City.

Noble has been the source of constant debate amongst fans, many of who, like myself feel signing a player on loan then not giving him a chance is a crass waste of time and wages.

Others though, including chief scout and VitalWatford regular, Dirk Thrust believe his spell has been useful in determining a potential role back at the Vic’ ahead of next season perhaps.

We wait with bated breath to see whether or not the Mackems youngster will return to prove the doubters wrong…

It has since been confirmed by the gaffer that Noble asked to return to his parent club as apposed to being recalled or having his loan terminated.

Was he frustrated? Or just home sick? You have to wonder…
