Contrary to all the speculation that Watford have signed Inverness Cally midfielder, Don Cowie, up on a pre-contract to join in the summer, the Hornets have taken action to bring him in this weekend.

There`s no mucking around until June it seems with Brendan Rodgers believed to have offered the Highlanders a cool £50k to snap up Cowie in this transfer window.

Cally boss Terry Butcher seems keen to do the deal to move the player on before Monday`s 5pm deadline and already is eyeing where he could spend the Cowie cash.

According to the Press & Journal (who broke the story of Cowie`s imminent arrival at Vicarage Road yesterday), Cally`s midfield maestro is in Hertfordshire today undergoing a medical and to discuss terms.

No wonder the club have gone all quiet if an announcement could come sooner rather than later.
