Defender Neuton is being monitored ahead of Watford’s visit from Peterborough this Saturday after leaving training on Tuesday on crutches.

The Brazilian centre-half twisted his ankle during practice on Tuesday and left the Hornet’s UCL London Colney training base on crutches as a precautionary measure.

Head coach Gianfranco Zola insists that the defender is not definitely out of the Peterborough game on Saturday and that the Udinese loanee will be assessed in the run-up to the game.

Nyron Nosworthy could replace Neuton if the 22 year-old fails in his fitness bid:

“I will think about that [Nosworthy replacing Neuton] and consider just before the match because I need to see his condition,’ Zola told The Watford Observer
