Watford midfielder Sean Murray has been named the Republic of Ireland’s Under-21 Player of the Year.

The midfielder beat off competition from Everton’s Shane Duffy and Millwall’s Aiden O’Brien to scoop the award.

Murray has won eight caps for Ireland’s Under-21 side, scoring once, and has been on the cusp of Martin O’Neill’s full squad recently after impressing for the Hornets this season.

A regular in qualification for the 2015 European Championships in the Czech Republic, Murray played against Italy for Noel King’s side at last summer’s Championships in Israel.

Former winners of the award include Robbie Brady, Seamus Coleman, Kevin Doyle, Glenn Whelan and Kevin Kilbane.

Congratulations Sean.
