With Adlene Guedioura looking set for a switch to Hull City after Watford agreed a fee, Middlesbrough stole a march and appear to be the new favourite.

Sky Sports reported about an hour ago that the Riverside outfit had matched Hull City’s bid and come into the race for the Algerian international and that he preferred a switch to Middlesbrough and was heading to the club for a medical tonight hoping to get a deal over the line before the deadline closes.

Sky say the fee will be £3.5million upfront with a potential £500,000 on top with bonus clauses and the like.

Hull now seem to be out of the running for the player who has 14 appearances to his name for the club so far in 2016/17.
