Walter Mazzarri left Watford at the end of last season insisting he wouldn’t mind another crack at English football. An instant return at Crystal Palace could be on the cards?

According to the Watford Observer, who report sources have confirmed the Italian has held ‘informal talks’ with Crystal Palace, Mazzarri could end up filling the Sam Allardyce void at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace were seen as one of the clubs Watford beat to secure the services of Marco Silva last week, what irony it would be if Palace were to end up employing Mazzarri, 55, after he was shown the door at Vicarage Road one year into his three year deal.

I didn’t see that one coming at all, did you?

So, Mazzarri could well return to Watford next season, when he does he could come up against a player he had reportedly shown an interest in signing, Kiko Femenia.

Alaves’ full back has confirmed he’s turned down an offer of a new contract with the La Liga side. Previous reports had claimed a pre-contract agreement with Watford had been agreed earlier in the year, which proved wide of the mark.

Femenia, formerly a youngster at both Barcelona and Real Madrid, is again being linked with a move to the Premier League, so he may yet join the Hornets?
