Speaking to The Watford Observer yesterday Malky Mackay confirmed that he would react positively to any potential takeover.

‘If someone wanted to come in and invest into the football club and invest the structure we have here, because the club has been stripped back to the bone but we have a small, well-run machine at the moment.’

The Scot also detailed why exactly the Goldenboys would be an attractive proposition to any potential investor:

“We have a big selling point in Harefield Academy and a youth academy to be proud of, as we have a lot of young guys coming through at the moment.

“We have a couple of guys in the first team who are international footballers at the moment and a community like we have at the football club.

“It is also a selling point to be inside the M25 and we do not have a lot of debt at the football club compared to a lot of other clubs.’
