Former Ipswich Town and Queens Park Rangers manager Jim Magilton has joined the running to take the vacant manager’s post at Watford, according to Sky Sports News

Magilton, 42, has been out of work since leaving Loftus Road in 2009 in acrimonious circumstances after a 3-1 beating by the Golden Boys at Vicarage Road.

It was a short and explosive season in West London for Magilton who oversaw just 24 games at Hoops manager, winning nine, drawing eight and losing seven.

The former Tractor Boy had previously spent three years at Portman Road where he was in charge from 2006 to 2009 presiding over 148 games in Suffolk without ever really doing anything spectacular.

I can’t say this would be an appointment to get me excited and a moderately unsuccessful managerial career to date is hardly going to whet the appetite of the board. Hopefully, if there’s any truth to it, Magilton will demand a king’s ransom!
