Watford goalkeeper Scott Loach has been selected in England U21 manager Stuart Pearce’s provisional 40-man squad ahead of the European Championships.

The Hornet’s stopper has had an on-off season pulling off blinding saves one minute but conceding ridiculous goals the next.

On June 1, Pearce will trim the group down to the 23 players he will take the tournament.

However, the former Lincoln City stopper is part of the initial squad along with fellow ‘keepers Alex McCarthy of Reading, Frank Fielding of Blackburn Rovers and Jason Steele of Middlesbrough.

The tournament kicks off in Denmark on June 11 with England’s young lions facing Spain, Ukraine and Czech Republic in the group stage.

Also included in Pearce’s provisional squad are former Watford loanees Henri Lansbury, Danny Rose, Jack Cork and Tom Cleverley.

Good luck Scott and good luck England!
