It’s again being reported today that a deal has now been struck with Jerome Sinclair to secure his free transfer move from Liverpool to Watford this summer.

With Watford failing in a bid for him last January, this story certainly isn’t new with the player out of contract this summer but with plenty of ‘agreed/to be agreed’ stories in the past, ESPN are today reporting that they have a source close to the player who has now confirmed the 19 year old has struck terms with us.

With no new deal being signed at Anfield, despite their desire to secure the future of the player that they rate highly, it does look like it was only a matter of time before an official deal was struck with us for a summer move.

Don’t expect these stories to go away just yet though, as although it’s said a deal is now struck, it can only be in principle, as he’s not allowed to sign a proper pre contract with us given our English base – pre contracts in the final six months of a deal are only applicable to foreign based moves.

Upon contract expiry at Liverpool, it’s said the principled agreement will see him sign a three year deal with us.

Both clubs, owing to his age, will have to agree on training compensation for him, and if agreement can’t be struck then it would go to a tribunal to decide what Liverpool are owed.
