Watford’s Premier League season continued with a three-nil win against Liverpool at Vicarage Road on Sunday that takes the Hornets to within a point of the Champions League places at Christmas!

There was an element of fortune to the opening Watford goal but an Adam Bogdan error, when he failed to claim a corner Ben Watson corner dropping this saw Nathan Ake force the ball home after just three-minutes. Bogdan ‘might’ have had both hands on the ball as he looked to recover his error though?

Odion Ighalo doubled the lead with the Hornets making a dream start to make it two on 15-minutes with the game put beyond doubt when Ighalo headed home his 12th-goal of the season from a pinpoint cross from sub Valon Behrami.

These were the other results.

Chelsea quite possibly, some would say probably, would have beaten Sunderland as they did anyway with the post-Jose Mourinho era beginning with a three-one win for the Champions at Stamford Bridge but it’s Leicester, who beating the Blues that ended his second spell, that will be top at Christmas after a three-two win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Bournemouth did Man United the week before and this time round they won again with a two-one win at West Brom, the ‘surprise’ defeat United suffered at Bournemouth last Saturday was most definitely bettered by Norwich’s shocking of the Red Devils at Old Trafford with the Canaries going away with a two-one win!
