He’s gone from someone who was ‘surplus requirements’ with his previous club to one who stands on the brink of winning a Premier League title winners medal following a £1m arrival last summer.

I wonder if Stoke’s view on Robert Huth is now somewhat different!

Troy Deeney, with what he’s quoted as telling the BBC, has said that having come up against every backline in the topflight this season, he sees Huth (from the two battles they’ve had) as his ‘toughest opponent.’

‘I have played against every Premier League defence this season for Watford and Leicester’s Robert Huth is the toughest opponent I have faced. Like his tea-mate Wes Morgan, who I had many battles with in the Championship earlier in our careers, Huth is old-school. (He is) an out-and-out defender who really enjoys the physical side of the game.’

Wes Morgan and Huth have formed quite a defensive pairing, which has been key to the Leicester title push, with the former Chelsea defender ‘horrible to play against’ with such views meant in a complimentary way about the 31-year-old.

‘That is normally the side I thrive on too, but I did not have much joy against the German. He is horrible to play against, in the most complimentary way.’
