Watford’s Premier League season continued with a two-one defeat to Man City at Vicarage Road on Saturday evening as a one-nil lead was overturned by two-late City goals.

After a goalless first half Watford went ahead when Aleksandar Kolarov headed a Ben Watson corner into his own net, which looked as though it would see the Hornets cause another upset heading into the final 10-minutes.

But two goals in as many minutes through Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero saw Man City turn the game around and go away with the points and see Watford start the year with defeat as had been the case to end the last!

These were the other results.

Saturday 2nd January 2016
West Ham 2-0 Liverpool
Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle
Leicester 0-0 Bournemouth
Man Utd 2-1 Swansea
Norwich 1-0 Southampton
Sunderland 3-1 Aston Villa
West Brom 2-1 Stoke
Watford 1-2 Man City

Sunday 3rd January 2016
Crystal Palace 0-3 Chelsea
Everton 1-1 Tottenham

Liverpool’s up and down spell of late recently continued with West Ham seeing off the Reds two-nil at Upton Park with rivals (Liverpool’s) Man United ending a poor end to the year with a two-one win over Swansea.

Arsenal kept top spot with narrow one-nil win over Newcastle with Man City coming back from behind to earn a late two-one win at Watford (as we knpw) to keep up the pressure with Leicester losing a little ground with a nil-nil draw at the King Power Stadium against a 10-man Bournemouth side.

Things were looking bleak for Aston Villa going out of 2015 but 2016 didn’t get any better with the three-one loss at the Stadium of Light leaving (even in January) them as a ‘near certainty’ you feel to go down….
