Flying winger Jobi McAnuff has quashed rumours on various Palace sites that he would welcome a loan move back to Selhurst Park after finding himself relegated to the bench at Watford.

A whole bunch of Eagles fans had flapped with excitement when former teammate and close friend, Leon Cort claimed that £1.75m signing Jobi had hinted that he ‘could be tempted to rejoin his old club on loan` but the 25 year old has stood firm, confirming he wants to fight for a place back in Sir Aidy`s starting 11.

The pacy left winger told inquisite hacks down at the Croydon Guardian “I just said that to Leon in jest more than anything. I`m more than happy at Watford and I just want to knuckle down, work hard and win my place back”.

Despite starting all 6 of the opening games of the season McAnuff has only grabbed just over an hours worth of action coming off the bench in the last 5 of Watford`s fixtures, mainly due to the sparkling form and goalscoring habit of Middlesborough loanee Adam Johnson.

The Good Ship Boothroyd though only has 3 recognised out and out wingers in the squad and with England U21 International Johnson only on a 3 month loan, Jobi`s chance to impress will come.

He went on to confirm to the bods in the know down at the Watford`s official club site “I don`t think there`s any time to be sulking. If I`m not on my game then someone will get past me again so I`ve got to put pressure on the boys that are playing. I`m happy at the club.”

That`s the spirit son.
