Paul Jewell hasn’t written off Watford’s chances of surviving relegation – as Latics prepare for their biggest game of the season.

Wigan travel to the Hornets next Wednesday and victory us would give them an eight point advantage over West Ham and Charlton – the two teams directly below them.

Jewell said, ‘Watford have given themselves a chance of surviving.

‘The biggest game for us now is at Watford next Wednesday. This is a massive game for both clubs.

‘We have to take a positive reaction out of the game on Sunday. If we play like that from now until the end of the season we’ll finish well above the relegation zone.’

‘If you can get to 40 points that would make us safe,’ he said. ‘We think about it, but it is a dangerous precedent to set if you start making targets and then don’t meet them.’

Wigan have never beaten Watford in five previous attempts at Vicarage Road so history is in our favour. It truly is…an absolutely HUGE game…this could make or break us…
