Veteran forward Chris Iwelumo will be given a free transfer after being told his is surplus to requirements, say Sky Sports News.
The 33 year-old Scot, who signed a two-year deal last summer, featured in this afternoon’s clash with Spurs for Lloyd Doyley’s testimonial.
And, with loanees Steve Leo Beleck and Matej Vydra still short of match fitness and Alex Geijo’s loan arrival yet to be confirmed, it’s hard not to question the credibility of the story.
The former Burnley targetman was heavily linked with a move to Bournemouth earlier in the summer, whilst Preston North End were linked with a move for Big Chris during the week.
If Geijo’s loan arrival is confirmed by the club, then Iwelumo’s departure might follow. For now though, it looks a strange move.
