As expected, Watford have stuck to tradition of appointing young, fresh managers by announcing that first team coach Malky Mackay has been promoted to the role of new gaffer at Vicarage Road?

?and he`s been backed by the board with a 3 year contract (something Brendan Who? didn`t enjoy the luxury of)

Mackay, who beat off more than “50 quality applicants” for the role according to the Hornet ‘fficial site, was the “outstanding & exceptional candidate” or so says the 4-man selection panel, featuring Sir Graham Taylor.

It is expected that Mackay will appoint Sean Dyche as his right hand man to build a ever so manly backroom team that you simply wouldn`t mess with!!!

Malky, who is currently out in Sweden keeping a close eye on the talent at the U21 European Championships, told the official site “I`m absolutely delighted to get the job?I couldn`t have had any better grounding than what I`ve had at Watford over the last 4 years?”.

?Let the games begin.
