Catch up on the international exploits of the Hornets from Monday

Connor Smith made his debut for the Republic of Ireland`s Under-21s as they were beaten 4-0 by Germany in 2015 European Championships qualification.

Smith, along with Hornets` teammate Sean Murray was part of the Ireland Under-21 side beaten comfortably by their German counterparts at The Showgrounds in Sligo.

Murray started and played the full 90 minutes, whilst Smith entered the fray at half-time, replacing Anthony Forde.

The Irish cause was not helped by the sending-off of Aston Villa`s Samir Carruthers just after the hour, with Noel King`s men 3-0 down after just 25 minutes.

Cristian Battocchio picked up his second Italy Under-21 cap as Luigi Biagio`s side beat Cyprus 2-0.

The all-action midfielder started and played 90 minutes as the Azzurrini overcame their Cypriot counterparts with two second-half goals.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond was an unused substitute for England`s Under-21s, who drew 1-1 with Estonia in Tampere.

Saido Berahino equalised for Gareth Southgate`s side after Estonia took a 15th-minute lead.
