Catch up on the fortunes of the Hornets internationals during the first half of the international break

Republic of Ireland Under-21 pair Sean Murray and Connor Smith both started as Ireland were held in Romania.

The duo started in the centre of midfield as Noel King’s Under-21 side were held to a goalless draw.

Both players were booked, with Murray completing the 90 minutes and Smith replaced by QPR’s Frankie Sutherland after 77 minutes.

Ireland host Romania in the return fixture on Tuesday.

Lloyd Doyley’s Jamaica were beaten 2-0 by the United States of America as their dismal run of form continues.

Doyley started and played the full 90 minutes with former Hornets Aidy Mariappa and Jobi McAnuff also starting. Theo Robinson came off the bench.

Jamaica play Panama on Wednesday morning.

Essaid Belkalem got another 90 minutes under his belt as Algeria were beaten 3-2 by Burkina Faso in their World Cup 2014 qualifier.

The powerful centre-half played the full 90 minutes as an 86th minute penalty denied Algeria a point.

Algeria host the return fixture next month.

Finally, Joanthan Bond was not involved in England Under-21’s matchday squad for the Three Lions 4-0 victory in San Marino.

England face Moldova on Monday.
