Speaking to the BBC’s cameras a short time after match day referee Graham Scott blew the final whistle, Everton caretaker manager David Unsworth explained.

‘Whatever will be will be. I have been the proudest man in the world to take charge for the last two weeks and no one can take that away from me. I know nothing about it. I’m sure I’ll speak to the chairman and owner and I’ll keep giving my best for this wonderful club.’

Watford head coach Marco Silva in his comparitive interview explained.

‘We were comfortable at 2-0. I didn’t remember a period of 10 minutes when they had big pressure. The details made the difference. We made one mistake and they began to believe. Our player slipped for the penalty, and that’s very unlucky.’
