Tamas Priskin has got to learn.
That is the strong armed message from Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd after the 29th minute dismissal of his young Hungarian striker gave Cardiff a lifeline in Tuesday`s 2-2 draw at Vicarage Road.
The Hornets were cruising at 2-0 against a powder puff Bluebirds side – thanks to goals from O`Toole and Hoskins – before Priskin needlessly took a swipe at Darren Purse to receive his 2nd red card of his Watford career.
No wonder then that Boothroyd reckoned it was “the major turning point” as the Hornets were forced to go on the backfoot and 2 well taken Jay Bothroyd goals shared the points.
The Hornets chief Boothroyd was far from happy though, stating “It was a crowded corner and I think there was a bit of a grabbing going on, unseen by the referee and I think he`s reacted. No matter what provocation you get you can`t raise your hands to an opponent and he`s done that.’
A frustrated Boothroyd added “I`m disappointed because the best way to react to that kind of thing, whatever it is, is to make sure you pop one in the net and then smile – He`ll learn from it”?
?and given how badly Cardiff`s defence coped under the high ball early on and the quite awful display by keeper Tom Heaton, you`d have bet your house on Priskin having the last laugh had he stayed on the pitch!
