What a contrast in fortunes it has been for Watford’s Odion Ighalo this season.

Last season – under Quique Sanchez Flores – the Nigerian was on fire and ended the campaign with 17 goals and speculation was rife he could leave Watford for another club with the likes of Manchester United mentioned.

However, this season Ighalo has struggled to hold down a regular first team place under Walter Mazzarri and when he has played he’s not been able to recapture that same goalscoring form – in fairness the vast majority of his Hornets goals did come in the first half of the 2015-16 campaign.

Ighalo could well be inching toward a Vicarage Road exit though with Sky Sports reporting he’s in talks with Premier League rivals West Brom.

Sky Sports’ sources are mixed though! One has claimed a fee of £17m has been agreed for the 27 year old whereas another source has said these reported talks are ‘not yet that advanced’ with Ighalo.

We’ll have to see how things develop but Ighalo could be coming to the end of his spell with Watford? If he did and a fee of £17m was received I actually think that would represent a good deal for the Hornets.
