Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes could tempt Aidy Boothroyd to seriously rethink the ‘hands off` tag slapped on Marlon King`s head by letting wantaway striker Jason Roberts leave Ewood Park, according to the Watford Observer anyway.

The hacks down at Hertfordshire`s finest local rag don`t usually deal in sensationalist speculation but insist that should Hughes be persuaded by the Hornets supremo to part company with the ex Wigan striker then Boothroyd might be willing to cash in his 11-goal striker and start a feeding frenzy.

The Watford gaffer recently said “‘I don’t want Marlon King to go, I’ve said that all along and I don’t intend to see him play for anybody else except Watford” but Boothroyd is a long-time admirer of Roberts, who is out of favour at Ewood Park, and knows teaming him up with Nathan Ellington could be lethal.

With rumours also rife that Middlesborough are keen on signing King in a deal that could see wing wizard Adam Johnson back in a Watford shirt, well we simply wouldn`t rule anything out.

Stranger things have happened you know.
