Watford have gained some long-awaited recognition for their impressive league campaign with two nominations for the Football League awards.

Flying winger Will Buckley is amongst the nominees for the Young Player of the Season Award after some sublime performances this term.

The former Rochdale winger was unplayable during the depths of winter and although he’s been off the boil of late, it’s been a highly impressive debut season at this level.

As well as Buckley’s nomination, the whole team has been shortlisted for the Team Performance of the Season award. The game in question unsurprisingly the 6-1 battering of Millwall at the Den in September.

Everything Watford hit went in that day as they recorded their biggest win (thus far) of the season.

Academy graduate Adam Thompson is up for the Championship Apprentice of the Season award having made an impressive impact on the first-team this season.

The big surprise though is Danny Graham’s omission from the Championship Player of the Season award shortlist. The 21 league goals Super Dan has scored are presumably not enough to earn him a place on the shortlist.

The awards will be handed out on Sunday – well done lads, and here’s to some silverware, hopefully!
