With Nathan Ellington scoring his first Watford goal in a year this week, it comes as something of a surprise that the ‘Orns are being linked with another forward…psssh.

Former Reading and Swindon striker Simon Cox is being linked with a loan move to Vicarage Road after failing to make his mark at the Hawthorns following his £1.9m move from Wiltshire. The Swindon Advertiser linked the 22 year old with a move to join Bravheart’s boys over the weekend, whilst former club Swindon are also in the mix for the striker.

The 5’10’ forward scored an astonishing 32 goals last season for Swindon before a protracted move to join Robbie di Matteo’s Baggies side over the Summer. Since arriving in the black country the striker has managed just eight appearances and mostly off the bench with one league start. In recent weeks, 17 year old Kiwi kid, Chris Wood has been selected ahead of him.

Cox’s career record reads 98 league starts and 46 league goals despite making his full football league bow in 2006 on loan at Brentford.
