Hornets’ hitman Marlon King today agreed personal terms with the club and will officially become a Watford player in January.

King, the Championships’ leading goalscorer with 12 goals, is arguably the hottest property outside of the Premier League is ‘delighted’ to have committed his future to Watford.

Hornets boss Aidy Boothroyd, who recently committed himself to the club until 2010, was a big influence on King’s decision to sign. ‘Aidy has given me the opportunity to show what I am capable of as a player and I have done my very best to repay the faith shown in me. The fact he has been prepared to sign for the club for a long time meant an awful lot to me.’, said King.

King, who has forged a lethal strike-partnership with Ashley Young, believes he can reach the upper echelon of English football with the Hertfordshire-based club. ‘My overall goal is to play in the Premier League. I believe that I will be doing so in the very near future wearing the colours of Watford’, the twenty-five year-old forward told the club’s official website.

King was initially signed from Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan with an Option to Buy clause, Forest will receive £500,000 for the former Gillingham forward.
