Any hope Watford had of snapping up Barnet winger Albert Adomah on the cheap to replace £2m Tommy Smith have been blown out of the water after Blackpool entered the race for the pacy Bees playmaker.

The sports hacks at the Mirror reckoned the Hornets had Adomah in their sights in the summer (quoting that a £500k bid was in the offing) but it`s all gone a bit quiet since, even after young Albert ran the Malky Mackay`s men ragged in the Carling Cup – a performance that would have raised a few eyebrows amongst Watford`s player recruitment team.

Now it appears they aren`t the only Championship side keeping track of the Underhill flyer after Blackpool slapped in a £200k bid for the former Harrow Borough star with both Plymouth and League One side, Norwich, waiting in the wings to pounce also.

The Tangerine`s £200k has been rejected out of hand by Barnet but it could well start a bidding war before the window slams shut tomorrow at 5pm.
