There`s a wee stench of braveheart in the air these days at Vicarage Road and it`s getting stronger by the day with Malky Mackay hell bent on re-inforcing the Scottish-ness of his squad.

Not content with adding Aberdeen skipper Scott Severin to the ranks over the summer, Mackay is also running the rule of thumb over Greenock Morton`s highly rated left footer Jim McAllister.

Jimaldinho (no, we hope that nickname doesn`t stick either) has followed thistle sharp Don Cowie`s well beaten tracks across the Highlands for a 4 day trial in Watford despite interest from Champions League qualifiers, Unirea Urziceni from Romania.

The Greenock Morton site reckon McAllister has some silky skills and some serious quick feet that “leave his opponents for dead” and the good news is he would be cheap after turning down the offer of a 3 year contract last summer.
