Brendan Rodgers has hailed new recruit Jack Cork as “a different class” despite seeing his defensive midfielder overrun by the movement and skill of Reading`s star men.

Cork was dubbed ‘every bit a Premier League standard player` in the Hornet boss`s post match assessment following the 4-0 right royal hammering at the hands of Reading and the young England U21 international had the gaffer gushing with praise.

Speaking of the part played at Reading by his recent loan signing from Chelsea, Rodgers beamed “He [Cork] was super and at 19 years of age he can control the game at a stadium like the [Madjeski]”.

Rodgers added “I thought he was different class out there – outstanding”.

A different class in fact that it is widely believed that Portsmouth might just take a pop on Cork and use up some of the £6m Defoe profit that`s burning a hole in Tony Adams` back pocket.
