Watford boss, Aidy Boothroyd had reason to celebrate the Glory Hornet boys win at Crystal Palace more than most on Monday as he became only the 5th manager of the club to achieve 50 victories since the 1950s.

Sir Aidy, who saw his side seal his silver jubilee victory with a 2-0 away win thanks to goals from King Marlon and Tommy Smith, reached the grand milestone at the 123rd time of asking since his appointment at Vicarage Road in March 2005.

Only legendary Glory Hornets Graham Taylor, Mike Keen, Ron Burgess and Len Goulden have notched up more wins in their management careers at WD18 since World War 2 than Boothroyd according to our incredibly statistical friends down at www.soccerbase.com.

With 36 wins (and counting) in just 67 Championship league games, Sir Aidy has the best win rate of any Watford gaffer since Steve Harrison in the late 1980s – and that`s despite last season’s ill fated Premiership stats?

Yep, his league record in the second tier of English football is THAT good!!
