Last nights World Cup 2010 draw saw the ever-improving United States drawn alongside no-hopers Algeria and Slovenia, s well as the most over-hyped team in the tournemant, England.

And, with Jay DeMerit looking likely to be included in the 18 today somewhere, the American will be focusing on retaining his place at the heart of the United States defence come June 12th next year.

DeMerit was in superb form for the USA over the Summer as theu competed in the Confederations Cup, knocking out Euro Champs Spain in the Semi’s before squandering a 2-0 lead in the final against Dunga’s much-fancied Brazil.

Since making his USA bow in 2007 against Guatemala, the Green Bay-born centre half has won 16 caps for the States. He was also included in the USA’s CONCACAF Gold Cup winning side of ’07.
