Watford were twice in a position to end our long Premier League run without a win at Bournemouth but the Hornets had to be content with a point in the end.

Heurelho Gomes conceding twice leading and being held to a 2-2 draw at Dean Court made it feel a little like two points dropped by Watford but the keeper pointed to a better performance shown against Bournemouth.

The Brazilian also admitted the improvement in performance was more in terms of character and not actually in footballing terms but successive draws have given Watford something to build on.

Gomes told the Official Website.

‘I believe it was a better performance, not in terms of football but in terms of character, in terms of a unit and how we fight for each other. We gave everything and maybe it wasn`t our best performance but we were up for it, and like you said, another draw. It`s a tough place to come but we worked so hard to get the point.’

Walter Mazzarri continues to have the backing of the board but it’s a results based business and a win would have really eased any pressure. However, as Gomes has pointed to there are definite positives to take from this draw.

Christian Kabasele and captain Troy Deeney struck in each half but the Hornets just couldn’t get those three points across the line.
