Golden Graham happy with goal haul

Ok, we admit it. Here at VitalWatford we accept that we might just have over-reacted at the ‘ridiculously high` fee the transfer tribunal slapped on Danny Graham`s head last summer…

We admit, we might just have a been a tad over the top when we commented that Watford had been ‘robbed` when we were ordered by those doddery old execs at the FA to Carlisle pay £250K for Danny Boy.

…after all, with a haul of 14 goals in his debut season and a place in Top 5 Championship strikers list (according to the boffins at Actim), ‘Goal`den Graham is actually a bit of a bargain basement purchase!

And, if it hadn`t have been for the antics of Charlie Adam up at Blackpool (or even Reading midfielder Gylfi Siguardsson), then Graham might well be considered the find of the season.

The Hornets hitman finished as the 30th best player in the Championship – a mere 51 points, 23 places ahead of Clever Tom!

And that`s all the more impressive given Danny insists this season has been “a learning curve“.

Our ‘Goal`den boy admitted he was “pleased” with his tally – despite missing his own target.

Danny Boy told the ‘fficial site “I set my goal tally of 15 for the season and I got 14 so I don`t think I`ve done too badly“… and let`s face it he`d have smashed it had he not decided to hibernate during the winter months of the season!

Graham added “In my last season with Carlisle I got 15 and that was in League One. The Championship is an incredible league with some really tough teams in, so I`m pleased with my 14 this season“.

So you should be Danny – just make sure you get 20 next term.
