Former Watford loanee David Noble had the last laugh at Selhurst Park as his rasping, injury time drive sealed Bristol City a priceless 2-1 first leg advantage over Palace.

Noble, who drew first blood for the Gary Johnson`s Robins after the ‘other` play-off semi final appeared to drawing towards a 1-1 stalemate, played 18 games for Watford after being borrowed from the youth ranks at Arsenal way back in July 2001.

The Hitchin born Robins midfielder may have only notched 1 goal in a Hornets shirt (away in a 3-0 win away at Grimsby) but his late late strike against Palace as put Bristol City in the driving seat for a place at Wembley where he could yet face a Watford side who gave him his first ever taste of league action.
