Head coach Quique Sanchez Flores has called on Watford to be positive ahead of the challenge that will be Stoke City this weekend.

Speaking to watfordfc.com the gaffer said that he remained happy with where the club sat after nine game back in the top flight, especially as he felt there were still plenty of improvements that could be made to our play that would push us to better results and higher in the table.

‘I am very confident with what I am doing, and I am very confident with what the players are doing. Since the Premier League season started we have been thinking about the positions we can finish in. We are 15th now, but we want more. We are not happy just to stay in this position.’

As for the opposition this weekend more specifically, he admits we face off against a side that are in great spirits following their four wins on the spin in all competitions, but he knows we are capable of hurting them and taking the three points on offer if we play to our maximum.

‘We know perfectly well that Stoke is a very tough team. They are playing at home, and in the last few weeks they have had some very good results, so they are full of confidence. But we know how things work in this league, sometimes you have to play this kind of match when the opponent is high in morale. For us, every single match is difficult, so we are working like always with the idea to forget what happened in our last match.’

With much talk about form in front of goal for us so far this season, he confirmed that it was being addressed in training and he was confident that goalscoring exploits would soon come to the fore in games themselves.

‘For us it has not been easy to score because we are not in a high position in the last third when we have the chances we create, but in general I am happy with the players. We have a lot of ideas and tasks thinking about how we can improve this area. The most important thing is to create a balance between scoring and conceding, and while we keep the balance, we are safe.’
