29 year old Mauro Zarate arrived at Vicarage Road yesterday from Italian side Fiorentina on a permanent deal.

The Argentine forward has penned a two and a half year deal at the club and he’s comfortable as either a striker or an attacking midfielder so he brings head coach Walter Mazzarri options especially with the injuries around the pitch we have.

He leaves Fiorentina having scored seven goals in eight appearances and he does have Premier League experience from spells in the top flight with West Ham, Queens Park Rangers and Birmingham City.

He’s been handed the No 20 shirt for the remainder of the campaign.

With a three game suspension from the Italian FA though, he has to miss out on the FA Cup trip to Millwall and Tuesday’s Premier League match against Arsenal before he can come into contention for his debut.

His first game will be Burnley on February 4 and the £2million signing should then be free to be involved.
