It was a case of so near yet so far for the Watford Masters 9-squad as they lost out in the final of the ScrewFix Masters to West Ham at Wembley Arena on Saturday.

The Hornets veterans won their group stage thanks to an impressive 4-3 win over Tottenham – with Tommy Mooney and Iwan Roberts goals adding to a brace from Steve Butler – as well as a tight goalless draw with a Ray Parlour inspired Arsenal.

Unfortunately, despite a 3rd Steve Butler strike in as many games (the hottest streak he`s put together in a Hornets shirt?), the Watford Masters lost 3-1 to a strong Hammers squad in the Final and miss out on a place in the National Masters final at the NEC in Birmingham?

Watford Masters squad – Kevin Miller, Mark Williams, Craig Ramage, Nigel Gibbs, Steve Palmer, Andy Hessenthaler, Iwan Roberts, Steve Butler, Tommy Mooney.
