Watford are set to complete the loan signing of Everton and England midfielder Tom Cleverley according to Sky Sports sources.

News of his reported arrival – for a second loan spell having joined from Manchester United in the 2009-10 season previously – until the end of the campaign have been backed up by the BBC.

The Beeb also report a temporary deal has been agreed with Everton for the former United man who will join as long as he successfully comes through his medical.

Walter Mazzarri has been clear that he’s looking to freshen up the Watford squad this month but also said he could look towards the homegrown talent the Hornets already possessed – after several boosted their chances of involvement when impressing during the FA Cup win against Burton.

Technically Cleverley is a homegrown talent and isn’t going to cost a fortune.

Everton are willing to offload the midfielder – who has managed just four starts in his 10 Premier League appearances this season – as he wouldn’t appear to be in the future plans of Toffees boss Ronald Koeman.
