Eustace Talks Begin

It has been revealed by The Watford Observer that ‘Players Player`, John Eustace has started talks with Malky Mackay regarding a new contract.

The 30 year-old former Stoke City captain has rescued his career at the Vic` this season after failing to convince former boss, Brendan ‘Who?` Rodgers of his worth; eventually ending the season on-loan at Derby, scoring that goal in front of the Rookery on final day 09/10.

A model of consistency (both in his off the ball brilliance and on the ball carelessness), Eustace has gone on to make 44 appearances in league and cup this campaign after it was initially made quite clear the Hornet`s new No.28 was unlikely to stick around too long.

However, having agreed to waive the excessive appearance fee in his lucrative contract the former Middlesbrough and Cov man has been integral in the Hornet`s engine room alongside impressive Arsenal loanee Henri Lansbury.

I think it`s also fair to make the sweeping generalization that if skipper Jay DeMerit were to leave post World Cup, many would not be too sad to the see the back of the Yankee centre-half owing the fact Eustace would be a much better choice as club captain.

With regards to Eustace`s wages, the gaffer had this to say when speaking to the Watford Observer:

“The finances at the club and the way the club has had to restructure is well documented and it is always going to be an issue, whether it comes to attracting players to the club or keeping players.

It is down to both parties and is something we will be talking about.”

Fingers crossed eh?
