Sean Dyche was a happy man at full-time today, having watched his side weather the storm (both the weather & Middlesbrough’s pressure!), to secure an 11th-placed finish.

The Goldenboys took a battering in the first period with a number of superb stops from Scott Loach keeping the scores level.

In the second half though, Watford took the lead, Chris Iwelumo finishing from close-range to record his fourth league strike of the season.

‘Boro equalised five minutes from time through top-scorer Marvin Emnes but it was to be Dyche’s side that would have the last laugh when Troy Deeney finished a Craig Forsyth cross.

Speaking afterwords to The Official Site, Dyche said:

‘Players get you the sack, they say. I don’t agree with that. I love my players, I really do.’

The boss continued:

‘The reason is because I felt they showed all the characteristics during that game today, which have held us in such good stead across this year.

‘Winning today was a great achievement, but the overall picture of an 11th-placed finish and 64 points is an achievement which makes me very, very proud indeed of this group of players.’

Congratulations to Sean and the players on a tremendous season, from all at Vital Watford.
