Dyche: ‘Left-back not our priority’

Boss Sean Dyche has said to the Watford Observer that a left-back is not his number one priority this summer.

The Hornets have been without a left full back since Mat Sadler’s dramatic fall from grace in 2008 but still Dyche insists he has other priorities.

“Of course we are looking at that area but it is not something we are desperate for, we are just looking for the right player. If the right player becomes available then we will do that.” Dyche told the W.O.

Owner Laurence Bassini revealed the ‘Orns were after seven signings this summer – a centre back, central midfielder, two strikers and two wingers. Five of seven have been signed with just a left-back and second forward remaining, yet Dyche has suggested that either Lloyd Doyley or Craig Forsyth can fill in there.

‘I think Lloyd is terrific; we love what he is about both on and off the pitch.

“We want to cover every area so a new left back will be in my consideration but Craig Forsyth can work down the left hand side as well so that is also in our consideration.’

Is this Dyche having funds pulled from underneath his feet or is the search simply harder than he thought? Either way we’re worried at VitalWatford that our biggest weakness may still remain come August 31!
