Sean Dyche was left ultimately disappointed despite an excellent showing for his Watford side as they crashed out the F.A Cup in the 4th round.
A speculative 42nd minute drive from Rafael Van Der Vaart did the damage despite Watford having nearly three times as many efforts as Spurs.
Speaking to ESPN afterwords, Dyche said:
‘I thought our performance was excellent tonight.
‘Sometimes it happens when you don’t get your rewards and I think that happened tonight.’
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admitted that his side were poor on the night but reserved praise for Watford and in particular, skipper John Eustace:
‘How Watford lost I don’t know. We were hanging on. They were fantastic. Eustace ran the game.
‘We’re normally good, tonight was not the Tottenham team I see every week, we didn’t play well, we were poor.
‘Credit to Watford though, they were fantastic. I thought they were absolutely brilliant. They were top class. We got away with it tonight.’
