Watford outcast Nathan ‘Duke` Ellington took his first steps towards winning the European Golden Boot (no laughing at the back) after opening his Greek Super League goal account for Skoda Xanthi.

The £3.25m flop only managed 5 goals in 57 runouts for Watford but took just 3 games to get on the Skoda scoresheet, netting a 62nd minute winner in Saturday`s 1-0 victory over the footballing might of FC Ergotelis Chania.

Ellington, who was upstaged by the goal scoring antics of Djibril Cisse in his initial home debut against Panathinaikos, told the ‘fficial Skodaxanthifc.gr site that he was “very cheerful” and “thanked the world” after his strike secured all 3 “very critical” points for his new side – or so says our rather dodgy greek-to-english translation.

Duke also confirmed that he has quickly acclimatised to life in Greece and “is really thrilled” to be playing again for a side, he said to Sky, was good enough to play in the Coca Cola Championship!
