It was being reported earlier today that Abdoulaye Doucoure was set to be offered a new deal by Watford.

The Watford Observer carried the story leading on comments presumably from sources within the club.

The 25 year old still has two and a half years left on his deal but the club and Marco Silva seem suitably impressed with his six goals in 22 appearances so far this campaign to tie him down for longer.

The suggestion is he will become one of our highest earners with figures of £70,000 a week being bandied around but it would be in return for a new five year deal.

He hasn’t yet been formally approached however, but with his stock rising it’s understandable that Watford would move quickly with potential January suitors taking note of his performance.
